Dance Party

Lex has loved music and has loved dancing from the time she was in utero! At least once a week, we have a "dance party" where she gets to pick her songs and we dance for at least 30 minutes. This week's dance party mix included:
Burnin' Up by the Jonas Brothers
My Humps-Black Eyed Peas
Candy Man-Christina Aguilera
Barbara Ann-Beach Boys
Disturbia-Rihanna
Lex knows words to SO many songs. She's also so musical in that she will make up songs on a whim based on what we're doing complete with a beat.

Our Little Devil and her first field trip

Our little Devil had her first field trip today to Heritage Farm at Claude Moore park today. Lex couldn't wait to ride the bus to the farm (It's about a 5 minute ride) and predicted all morning that they would be taking the blue school bus as opposed to the white bus. Today, when I talked to her after school, the first words out of her mouth were "Mommy, I was right! We took the blue bus!" Then, she told me "Mommy, it wasn't a farmmmmmm. It was a museum."

Great Country Farms

This past Sunday, we headed up to Great Country Farms to pick our "share" of vegetables from our crop share that we've participated in all summer. The weather was overcast and drizzly, but we all had a great time!! We were able to pick cherry tomatoes and Lex had the best eye finding ones that weren't split open from all of the rain we had last week. We then picked edamame or as lex called it "edaMOMMY".

Field Trip!

I signed my first permission slip :) Lex has a field trip to Heritage Farm in Sterling!

Hip Hop Dance Class

Every Saturday, Lex has hip hop dance class with 10 other 5-7 year old dancing queens. Lex LOVES it! They dance to Hannah Montana and the Cheetah Girls and lex is completely in her element the entire time. After this past Saturday's class, the dance instructor, Miss Michelle came outside the classroom to tell me that Lex is the loviest child she's ever taught and that she is a "natural dancer" and the moves all come very easy for her :)

PS--These pictures are AWFUL because I take them in low light, through a glass one way mirror :)

Alexa Gwen-Photographer

Lex hijacked my camera for a half hour today and was giggling when she brought it back....She thought it was hysterical that she captured Bran asleep on the couch!

Nature Walk!

One of Alexa's homework assignments for the weekend was to go on a nature walk. When I explained to her that we would go and see things on a trail, Lex replied: You mean, like look at houses and see if we like them? That's my child :)
Needles to say, we checked ou the new wetlands preservation path in the Broadlands at about 10 am this morning. We were hot!

We saw bugs, lillypads, tons of little fish, birds and birdhouses and then Lex discovered a "beanstalk" growing up through the wood path.
