We have become the local attraction on our street with our pear tree that fell down! Fortunately, I called a tree service right away and they came this evening, gave us an estimate and are coming tomorrow at 8 to remove everything, stump and all! Apparently, these types of trees are very pretty and spread quickly but become top heavy and the strong wind mixed with the torrential downpour just made the entire thing crack. Poor tree :( Now we have an excuse to get the walkway redone and get the dogwood/weeping willow that I want :)
